Angie presents ‘My Yorkshire’ for new exhibition

NEW EXHIBITION: Angie Townsend will be displaying her bold colourful landscape painting at Richmond's Station this month

A BARNINGHAM artist known for her bold and vibrant landscapes is to exhibit her work at Richmond’s Station later this month.
The display comes on the back of Angie Townsend’s successful exhibition at Barningham Village Hall earlier this year.
She said: “It was absolutely brilliant – the weather was awful but people came and it exceeded all expectation.
“I had quite a few Teesdale paintings out and they all sold.
“The iconic white barns and Kirk Carrion – those are the ones that sold well.”

The focus for the Richmond exhibition is the Yorkshire Dales, particularly Swaledale, and has been titled My Yorkshire.
About 35 paintings will be on show.
Ms Townsend said: “It sums up my love for the Yorkshire landscape, the energy of it, the rise and fall of the land.
“I love the rise and fall of Swaledale and the V-shaped valleys. It has so much drama.”
Using acrylics on paper with bright vibrant colours, Ms Townsend aims to bring warmth and happiness to the viewer.
She said: “They are joyful. Some people know the places I have painted or they don’t know it, but it sparks an emotion or feeling that transports them to a place they know. If I can draw and emotion of a feeling, job done.”
Of her exhibition at the Station, Ms Townsend said: “It is very difficult to get in there.
“I applied three or four years ago and was on a waiting list. I was due to go in and Covid came, twice.”
My Yorkshire opens on Friday, March 25, and closes on Wednesday, April 6.
