Acoustic guitar star’s solo show at Bowes

RARE TREAT: Martin Harley will play a rare solo show at Bowes Village Hall Pic: Michal Augustini

ONE of the world’s finest acoustic guitarists will be playing a rare solo gig at Bowes and Gilmonby Village Hall next month.
After years of touring the UK and abroad with his band, award-winning roots and blues guitarist Martin Harley will perform his original songs on Sunday, December 12.
His new acoustic show, which is part of the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme, combines songs exploring hopes and fears for fast changing times with his trademark roots, blues and slide guitar style.
Mr Harley’s show brings the curtain down on this year’s Highlights programme in the dale.
Kate Lynch, director at Highlights said: “We work hard to bring high quality performances to rural audiences who might not normally get the chance to see them.
“Martin Harley is a world-class performer who has played at some of the world’s biggest festivals and we are delighted to bring him to rural venues for a very special intimate performance.”
Born in Cardiff, Mr Harley has released eight albums both in the UK and in Texas and Nashville.
An album with long time collaborators Grammy-nominated Daniel Kimbro and Sam Lewis is on the way for 2022.
He has played to full houses across the world including the Union Chapel, in Islington, Vancouver and Calgary Folk Festivals, Glastonbury Festival, Bestival and Beautiful Days in the UK.
He has toured extensively and performed at the Americana Music Association UK’s AmericanaFest in London, The Bluebird in Nashville and Tønder in Denmark.
Tickets for the show are £10 or £9 concessions.
Call promoter Mike Bettison on 01833 628343 or go online to www.highlightsnorth .co.uk for more details and to book.
