Lamb National is a bleating success

STARTERS ORDERS: Charlie Souter runs with the lambs as they set off TM pic

SHORT sharp showers did not deter punters at Eggleston Gala’s Lamb National on Saturday, where the likes of Shaun the Sheep, Baarbie, Red Ram and Woolly Jumper competed for the title.

Along with the sheep races, people enjoyed ferret roulette, mini golf and stalls at the new venue next to the Moorcock Inn.

Children enjoyed learning new skills at Marko’s Circus Workshop and playing on the bouncy castle.

The family day also included a pet show.

Entertainment was provided by Barnard Castle Silver Band, along with Ovinos Samba band, who continued playing throughout the downpour.

Quick-thinking organiser David Hutchinson extended the size of the marquee in anticipation of the rain.
