STAFF at a popular dale store say they have been delighted with the response from customers since it reopened.
Boyes has been a stalwart of the high street in Barnard Castle for 30 years, and since reopening two weeks ago following the installation of new social distancing equipment, manager Alex Wood said customers have been understanding.
He added: “The response we’ve had has been great. People have been saying how much they missed us. What we’re asking our customers to do is be patient and work with us to help protect them.”
Plexiglas screens have been put up at the payment areas and social distancing floor stickers have been placed throughout the store. Staff have been kitted out with face visors and signage outside the store. Mr Wood said: “At the moment we are allowing 15 people in the store at one time and we have shut off the changing rooms and lift as part of social distancing measures.
“We don’t mind if people come in as couples or have children as we understand it is not always possible to leave them at home. We’re just asking people to use their common sense.
“We’ve got a smaller staff back in and that’s why we’ve reduced the opening hours as well to allow us time to restock and clean down each night.
“But we’ve had lots of customers saying they’ve been waiting for us to open and not buy off the internet.”
