COTHERSTONE’S fun weekend committee are handing over the baton to a younger generation after another successful year.
The weekend was marked by a scarecrow and treasure trail, a fun run, quoits, a pet show and the obligatory fancy dress procession.
The village hall was decked out with craft, cake, cards, sweets and ice-cream stalls while a tombola and raffle were on offer. There was also a duck race, family quiz and children’s sports.
A spokesperson for the committee said: “Well, it’s official – after a combined total of over 200 years the long standing members of the fun weekend committee are hanging up their note pads, buckets, wigs and fancy dress and passing the roll of organising to the younger generation.
“We have raised a substantial amount of money in that time with the air ambulance, village hall and local charities benefitting.
“Ironically this year we have had more support than ever. We have had lots of laughs along the way. Thank you for supporting us over the years.”
