Rotarian steps out to support Teesdale YMCA

STEPPING OUT: Rotarian Peter Harding with Rachel Dyne

A BARNARD Castle Rotarian raised more than £500 after completing a 62-mile sponsored walk in aid of Teesdale YMCA.

Retired gas engineer Peter Harding walked St Cuthbert’s Way, from Melrose, in the Scottish Borders, to Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland.

He did the walk to raise cash for Teesdale YMCA’s effort to develop supported accommodation for young people who face homelessness. He said: “The walk was a fulfilling experience with an ever-changing variety of scenery and spectacular views – with a unique finish at the Holy Island causeway.

Rachael Dyne, operations director of Teesdale YMCA, added: “What an amazing achievement. Well done Pete. Every penny raised will be dedicated to our continued work with young people and the issues they face today including homelessness and the risk of homelessness.”
