A BARNARD Castle businesswoman has launched an online crowdfunding campaign to help replace her car after a “hit and run driver” left it wrecked, along with valuable computer equipment.
Jennifer Cartwright, who runs the computer repair company Reboot Repairs and Design, set up a Go Fund Me campaign last week after her only means of transport, a seven-year-old Hyundai i20, was “smashed beyond belief” at Oakley Green in West Auckland on Thursday, July 18.
Ms Cartwright, who travels all over the dale repairing computers and laptops for clients who don’t have their own transport or are unable to drive, said: “I’m totally heartbroken as my car runs my world. Without it I can’t get out to clients.”
She added: “Without a vehicle I can’t assist people or return repaired items to clients so my business has come to a complete standstill.
“The insurance have written off my little car, which has been with me since I started the company.
“The payout from them is not going to cover the costs of a new vehicle, so I am really stuck.”
