TAKE THE PLUNGE: Adventure in the upper dale awaits those who would like to have a taste of the outdoors this summer

OFFICIALS at an upper dale outdoor adventure centre are offering residents the chance to take part in some outdoor adventures this summer.

The Kingsway Centre, in Middleton-in-Teesdale, normally caters to groups visiting the dale, but is now offering a limited number of places to individuals, couples and families throughout July and August.

Operator Rob Atkinson said the idea was to introduce those living in the area to some of its gems, such as wild swimming areas and plunge pools. Swimming, abseiling, jumping and sliding are all part of the adventure.

Mr Atkinson said: “During the summer we are offering a number of slots for an adventure experience in Teesdale.

“We have some world-class venues here in the dale and for a while now I have wanted to be able to offer Teesdale residents an opportunity to get outside in nature and enjoy it for themselves.”

The experiences are open to ages 14+ but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Places are limited to specific dates which can be found on the centre’s website along with all the other relevant booking details.

Mr Atkinson added; “Kingsway provides all safety equipment but individuals must provide sturdy footwear and spare clothing.

“The experience lasts about three hours and individuals must be in adequate physical shape to cope with uphill walking and three hours of physical excursions.”
