A SUNNY day welcomed more than 100 Rainbows to The Hub, Barnard Castle, for an activity day. Girls travelled from across County Durham, including Spennymoor, Chester-le-Street and Durham.
The main aim was for the girls to try something they may have never experienced before and having fun while doing so.
New and old leaders were greeted alike. Karen Thompson, who has planned activity days with Hub staff during the past five years, said: “Massive thanks to The Hub team for planning another fantastic day. Each year we just get bigger and bigger, and we’re always met with encouragement.”
Another four activity days are planned during the summer, which will bring a range of girls groups of varying ages, again from across the county.
Jonny Elliott, assistant manager of The Hub, said: “I’ve helped plan these activity days with Karen over the years and have seen it grow.
“Originally we worked with 60 girls from local Brownies/Rainbows and Guides during the year. This has now grown to 500 girls from all over the North East.”
