Dale runners stride out in support of school appeal

ON THE RUN: Fiona Turnbull

Athletics

FOUR members of Teesdale Athletics Club travelled to Lightwater Valley to run the undulating 10k Race on Sunday.

Katy Smith was first lady back for the club and Mark Robson was first man. It was a beautiful sunny day, but cold and windy.

The course started and finished in a field beside the theme park but was all on tracks and roads apart from that so trail trainers weren’t necessary.

It was a challenging course with a lot of hills and running water on the roads after the heavy rain over the last few days.

The event was well organised with plenty of friendly marshals and a much appreciated jellybaby station at the bottom of one of the more challenging hills.

The race was staged to raise funds for a local school and was very much supported by the community.

It was attended by a wide variety of running clubs and had a great friendly and inclusive atmosphere. There was also an ice cream van on site.

The runners appreciated the support of club members Maureen Raine, Ramona and Robert Smith and Megan Hunt who came along to cheer us and family members on.
