Teenagers celebrate black belt success

WELL DONE: Jack Dominy and Rhys Foster achieved their Taekwondo black belts

Martial Arts

JACK Dominy and Rhys Foster both recently achieved their black belts in Taekwondo.

Both boys joined the Baek Ho Taekwondo class aged just five and have worked and trained hard every week, progressing through the different colour belts until they achieved their black belt.

Jack, now 14, is recognised as a “Poom grade” black belt and wears a suit with a red and black collar and a belt that is half red and black.

Rhys, 15, is recognised as a “Dan grade” black belt. A “Poom” grade is equivalent to a “Dan” grade and when Jack turns 15 he too will automatically wear a black collared suit and a pure black belt.

Instructor Jennie Lee said: “Both boys have demonstrated perseverance, commitment and true indomitable spirit.

“They passed their grade recently with flying colours and are excellent role models to their younger students in class.

“They are always at training classes each week to help their peers move forwards and are keen to learn their new moves towards their second Poom/Dan.”

Ms Lee said both she and Grandmaster Bryan Whiley, 8th Dan were extremely proud of them
