CREATIVE: Ann Whitfield is running a workshop which will raise funds for The Witham appeal

IF you’re looking for that perfect present for the creative family member or friend, artist Ann Whitfield may just have the answer.

Barnard Castle-based Ms Whitfield is running a day of creative drawing and painting, with all workshop fees going towards the Investing in The Witham appeal.

It takes place at The Witham on Saturday, January 5, from 10am to 4pm and costs £40 per place.

Ms Whitfield said: “It’s for anybody and the idea is it is a day of experimenting and trying things out and new experiences in drawing and painting.”

Ms Whitfield is a well-known local artist and her work is currently on display at The Witham as part of a collaborative exhibition with Jane Young and Sharon Loddey.

“The workshop is not about coming out with a product at the end of it,” she said.

“It is about learning and enjoying the day – a chance to start off the new year with a bit of creativity.

“We will start with some drawing exercises and move onto painting in the afternoon.”

All materials will be provided and the workshop fee also includes lunch at The Witham.

Ms Whitfield enjoyed a varied career, which included social work and lecturing before she began selling her paintings about a decade ago. She specialises in landscapes.

For more information, go to annwhitfieldart.co.uk and to book a place on the workshop, contact The Witham box office on 01833 631107.
