AN INCREASE in events in Staindrop has led an enterprising couple to open a new bed and breakfast facility in the village.
Gary and Helen Mills, who have lived in the village for the past 16 years, say there is a definite need for accommodation for people who attend events at the remodelled Scarth Memorial Hall or visit local attractions.
Their new business Millstone House B&B after was built from scratch on the site of the old Nursery Garage, which was once the packing shed for a market garden.
Mr Mills said the new bed and breakfast will provide a much-needed facility for Staindrop.
He added: “It makes sense for Staindrop to have a good B&B to complement the increasing popularity of events at the Scarth Hall in Staindrop, at Raby Castle, and big local events like Kynren.
“Staindrop is developing apace, and it’s great to be part of that development.”
Millstone House has three en suite guest rooms that provide high end accommodation.
Mrs Mills said: “Our rooms are very spacious and there has been a great emphasis on creating a friendly and comfortable venue for our guests.
“We have travelled extensively, taken expert advice, and know what a good B&B should look and feel like.
“Being on the southern edge of the village, the views are splendid and parking is plentiful.”
