Youngsters at Barnard Castle Under-8s FC off to a winning start in their new strip

YOUNG STARS: Martin Robinson and Jane Seagrave with the U8 footballers Bobby Hutchinson

MEMBERS of Barnard Castle U8s football team are looking good on the pitch thanks to a new kit sponsored by Jane Seagrave’s company Janie’s Kitchen.

The team are enjoying a super start to the season winning all four of their matches so far.

The kit comes courtesy of Jane Seagrave, who runs an outside catering company based in West Auckland.

Ms Seagrave, said: “I’m really passionate about football but especially so as my nephew Joseph is one of the players. I just wanted to put something back and help out.”

Last year the team, which played in the U7 league, managed by Martin Robinson, won 11 of their 14 games, losing only two games.

They managed to score 117 goals and kept four clean sheets, conceding only 21 goals through the entire season. Since moving up to the U8s they have also expanded with 13 players attending training sessions.

And four games into the new season they haven’t dropped one yet, scoring 24 goals with three clean sheets.

They have also lifted the trophy at a tournament held at Greatham Football Club, near Hartlepool.

They won all eight of their group games without conceding a single goal.

They managed to score a total of 34 goals throughout the tournament and only conceded one.
