ON Sunday, March 25, Teesdale CRC hosted the club’s Staindrop 21-mile open time trial.
The day started dry and bright if a little frosty but a rising westerly breeze made for a hard finish from Summerhouses back to Staindrop. The event was well received by all competitors following great organisation by event secretary Louise Hamilton aided by a small army of club and family volunteers.
The event was won by Keith Murray in 48.17mins. Five club members completed the event: Dan Small 56.18, Dene Gregory 58.34, Chris Thebe 1.00.56, Amanda Waller 1.10.10 and Craig Dunhill 1.11.31.
On the same weekend club members Erica Moks and Graham Tibbot travelled to Sherwood Pines to compete in round one of the National XC mountain bike championship.
Erica finished 13th in the Elite women’s category and Graham tenth in the Sport category, both excellent results.
On March 10, 12 club members travelled to Derby velodrome for two hours on the track. The excellent resident coach soon had the first timers confidently riding the steep banking.
Various skill drills were successfully completed before a fast 40 lap race completed the session.
Thanks to Mark Brown for organising this event.
The club’s next event is the 40 mile open time trial from Teesdale to Weardale and back on the April 22.
