TV and radio star Lucy Porter is to bring her new tour show Choose Your Battles to The Witham, in Barnard Castle, on Friday, April 6.
The show, of personal revelation, political observation and reflection, has garnered rave reviews.
The premise of the show is how do people know which causes are worth fighting for?
Lucy Porter uses her very funny experiences to help you decide.
As someone with a lifelong fear of making a scene, she has always erred on the side of caution when it comes to conflict.
When she was a single, self-employed, stand-up comedian, it was never that much of a problem as she spent 99 per cent of her time alone.
Now that Lucy’s a wife, mother and pillar of the local community, she is finding it a lot tougher.
In her new show, she uses secret ballots, visual aids and a punchbag with the face of Mary Berry – and the audience’s help – to work out when she should stick to her guns and fight, and when to use her disarming charm to defuse a situation.
The show is part of Funny Way To Be Comedy Club;’s spring programme.
Promoter Peter Dixon said: “Lucy Porter remains amongst the most sought-after comedy writers in Britain.
“She has been a huge hit with comedy audiences up and down the country for over ten years.”
He added: “We’re delighted she is returning to Barnard Castle this year following a sell out show in Teesdale last year.
“We’re sure her distinctive, cheerful, bouncy, feelgood comedy is the perfect antidote to the winter blues.
“The two comedy shows following this one, Phill Jupitus and Mark Steel, are already sold out so we’d advise people to buy in advance if they want to join in the fun,” he said.
Tickets are £14, with £12 for concessions, and are available from The Witham Box Office or online from funnyway tobe.com.
