Come rain or shine, the fun goes on

HEAVY showers failed to dampen the enthusiasm for Toft Hill’s annual fun day on Saturday.

The rain may have left some of the entrants in the dog show looking a little bedraggled, but no-one seemed to mind – least of all the four legged friends.

The fete is organised by Etherley Parish Council in partnership with Toft Hill and Etherley Community Association and held on the recreation grounds at the community centre.

In addition to the fun dog show, which has become one of the main attractions, a group of visiting alpacas also proved popular.

Youngsters enjoyed getting roped up and tackling a daunting looking climbing wall, while the young ones enjoyed bouncing around on a bungee trampoline.

There was a penalty shoot-out game giving football fans the chance to show England how to do it just a few hours later and there was a variety of music ranging from the Hartlepool Ukulele Group to vocalist Mason.

The Friends of the Darlington and Stockton Railway were also on hand to chat about the history of the Etherley Incline and update visitors on plans to celebrate the line’s 200th anniversary next year.
