EVENWOOD were back to winning ways on Saturday with a good run chase that resulted in victory with three wickets to spare.
Hosts Kimblesworth were asked to bat first on a wicket which offered the bowlers some reward for accuracy and the batsmen the opportunity to score if they strayed from length and line.
The Kimblesworth top order compiled diligently without ever dominating and used up their extra five overs to close on 194-8 from the full 50 overs.
Evenwood pro Muhammad Yasin was the pick of the bowlers with 4-24 from 12 overs, while Thomas Teesdale, although wicketless, got through ten overs for just 18 runs.
In reply, Evenwood suffered struggled early on and were reduced to 58-4.
Teesdale was then joined by Luke Bannister and the pair shared a partnership of 101 before Teesdale was surprisingly run out 13 short of what would have been a well deserved century.
Another couple of quick wickets fell before Rhys Peairs joined Bannister and their saw the side home.
Bannister remained 49 not out and Peairs blasted 18no of just nine balls.
The previous evening, Evenwood were in action in the league 15/15 competition group stage, at home to Esh Winning.
The visitors made 127-8 from their 15 overs thanks mainly to Khasif Naveed’s well made 63.
In reply, Evenwood could not keep up with the rate despite 51 from Dean Cummins and closed on 98-3.
This Saturday, Evenwood are back in action against Mainsforth.
