A DALE horse rider has followed up on her success at the British Dressage Championships by taking several awards at the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS) UK National Championships.
Charlotte Merrigan Martin, from Stainton Village, secured the supreme amateur rider and home produced horse of the year titles on her pony Solaris Dwenqua. She was also crowned intermediate rider of the year at the championships which was held at Arena UK, in Grantham. The 17-year-old said: “I am thrilled to win these supreme titles. I have had the most amazing season with my horses in both showing and dressage with some excellent results and to become intermediate rider of the year and supreme amateur means so much to me.”
Apart from the top awards, Ms Merrigan Martin (pictured) also took second place in the pony of the year final and third in the “king of the ring” class. Entrance to the king of the ring class is achieved by winning supreme of the show in one of the society’s regional shows. The regional champions then compete for the national title.
