IT’S been an exciting and busy couple of weeks for members of Teesdale Triathlon club, who have been competing in a variety of events.
Firstly, Sarah Grant and her friend Angela Doran took part at Harrogate Triathlon on May 8, chasing each other around the course in glorious sunshine, finishing with times of 1 hr 29 mins 37s, and 1 hr 28mins 14s respectively.
Sam Hill stayed local competing in the Richmond Aquathlon on May 14, picking up a podium position, finishing third female overall.
A number of club members attended the Keswick Mountain Festival in Cumbria on May 20, 21 and 22.
Peter Thwaites took first place in the vintage category of the sprint triathlon with a time of 1 hr 23 mins 46s. His son Will also took part and impressed with a strong finish to complete it in 1hr 35 mins 38s.
Taking part in her first triathlon, Sarah Jones, after months of swim training at the club’s regular Wednesday night sessions, completed the course in a time of 1hr 25mins 13s.
Sean Williams entered the 3.6km swim also at the KMF, coming 18th overall, with a time of 1 hr 01 mins 49s. In the 1500m swim event Simon Pettit came out of the water in 30th position with a time of 35 mins 11s. He was followed by his wife Amanda, who completed in 40mins 06s. Janet Stables and Alison Swinbank toughed out the choppy conditions and came out of the swim in a time of 1 hr 03 mins 30s.
On Sunday, May 22, Oli Blenkinsop took part in the Manchester half marathon, coming home in an impressive time of 1hr 27 min 33s.
Over jubilee weekend Andrew Enzor took part in the Triathlon X in the Lake District, which is a full-iron distance of 140 miles, features almost 17,000ft of climbing and follows the renowned Fred Witton cycle sportive route, finishing with a return mountain run to Scarfell Pike summit. Andrew smashed the course on Saturday, June 4, finishing in an incredible time of 15 hours and 20 minutes, putting him in third place and earning a place on the podium.
The following day (Sunday, June 5), Carol Lewis was also in the Lake District, taking part in the Aquasphere Epic Lakes 1.6 miles swim in Ullswater, finishing with a time of 39 minutes and 22 seconds.
