UMBRELLAS were the order of the day for visitors and stall holders at the Friends of the Richardson Hospital’s autumn fair.
The first major fundraising event organised by the charity since the start of the pandemic featured stalls from other Teesdale charities and organisations including the Rotary, Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Friends of Montalbo School and the Teesdale Branch of Cancer Research.
Although sunshine had been ordered for the event, held on the community hospital’s car park, in Barnard Castle, heavy showers persisted but this did not dampen the spirit of volunteers manning the stalls.
Pauline Harrison, chairwoman of the charity, said: “It was a bit disappointing that it’s so wet, as I think it stopped a lot of people coming, but we had a steady stream of people popping by.”
