Memorial service to say a proper farewell to Neville

POPULAR: Neville Turner who died in 2020 in lockdown

A MEMORIAL service for a well-known and much loved Teesdale vet, who died during the pandemic last year, has been organised so friends, family and all who knew him can pay their respects.
Neville Turner was a well-respected vet, author, musician, photographer and skilled raconteur and died aged 76 on May 25.
He was an active member of Middleton and Teesdale Silver Band for many years and instrumental in establishing farm charity Utass (Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services) and tributes poured in following news of his death.
Pandemic restrictions limited the number of mourners that could attend his funeral service. However, many people turned out, lining the streets as the funeral cortege passed by and members of Barnard Castle Band gathered on Galgate Green performing a heartfelt hymn.
The memorial service has been organised by Mr Turner’s widow, Christine. The service will be held at St Mary’s Parish Church, in Barnard Castle, on Thursday, November 4, at 2pm.
Mrs Turner said: “His funeral didn’t do him justice.
“There were only 20 people there because of the restrictions and he knew so many people from all over the dale.”
James Dykes will give a eulogy and the Revd John Moore will do a reading.
Mrs Turner added: “We had 35 fantastic years together but I wished it could have been more.”
