LEARNING more about the Queen’s reign has helped children at Staindrop Primary School reach their curriculum goals about chronology and history.
Each class took a decade from the Queen’s reign and tried food from that era, watched television programmes popular in the day, studied the fashion and learned about famous people from that age.
They also learned dances from each period.
The week of learning culminated in a fun jubilee celebration with the parents on Friday, which was organised by the Friends of Staindrop School.
Activities included taking rides on David Sowerby’s miniature bus which used to be a feature at Whorlton Lido, and lawn games provided by Teesdale Lions Club.
The children performed the dances they learned for their parents and enjoyed visiting the ice-cream van afterwards.
Thy also won prizes at a special teddy tombola.
