Barnard Castle’s new banking hub welcomed customers when it opened the doors to its temporary home at The Witham on Tuesday, April 8.
The Banking Hub, operated by the Post Office, offers shared banking services to customers of all UK’s major banking providers, and will be open Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm.
Customers will be able to deposit and withdraw cash and deposit cheques as well as receive face-to-face support and guidance. A representative from each bank will be based at the hub one day a week.
Staff from Barclays Bank will be in attendance on Mondays, with NatWest on Wednesday and HSBC on Thursday.
Discussions are still ongoing at the moment with which banks will fill the remaining two slots but are expected to be announced once the hub has found its permanent home.
Nikki Walia-France, banking hub operator, said: “You don’t need an appointment to call in if you want to see the bank and we are here to help.”
The banking hub is situated on the first floor and is accessible by lift.
Jane Woodward, marketing officer for The Witham, said: “Although the Witham isn’t normally open on a Monday we are opening for the banking hub. Customers will be able to access the hub at the rear entrance on Mondays, through the café.
“At the moment we are not opening the café on these days, but this may change.”
