Banging the drum for group

Banging the drum for group

GIFT: Secretary of the King Edward VIII Lodge of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Roy Fletton with pipe major Barry Waldron

A PIPE band is a new bass drum richer, thanks to the kindness of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes’ dale lodge.

This follows the King Edward VIII Lodge’s previous donation of a pair of snare drums to Vintage Pipes and Drums in January. The donation came about following an appeal to replace the drum they had been using from about 40 years. Pipe major Barry Waldron said: “My wife Sue used to play it in the band we had. It was so old it rattled.”

Secretary of the lodge Roy Fletton said the members felt it was a great opportunity to help the band with a new bass drum to match the two snare drums.

Vintage Pipes and Drums practice on Mondays 11am at Winston Village Hall and can be seen at events such as Teesdale Aviation Memorial Day, in Barnard Castle.
