Michael and Sami team up again to cater for salon’s loyal clientele

TOP TEAM: New colour degree specialist Sami Goldsborough

TOFT Hill salon Michael Teasdale Hair is celebrating its second year of trading in the village with the appointment of a new stylist.

It is a reunion of sorts for owner Michael Teasdale and part-time stylist Sami Goldsborough who both started out at Saks, in Bishop Auckland, and worked together some 14 years ago.

With 18 years of experience Sami a colour degree specialist, brings a wealth of knowledge to the salon and will be attending to clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Michael said: “It is fabulous – we are kind of picking up where we left off. We have been expanding and we can’t cope with the capacity, so it is great to have Sami with us.”

Many of the salon’s clientele have followed Michael from the previous businesses he operated in Evenwood, and later West Auckland.

He said: “We have a good clientele of all ages, men and women, who have followed us. The loyalty goes a long way.”

This dedication is reciprocated by the owner who makes a one-hour-and-20-minute daily commute from Northumberland to meet his clients’ hair-styling needs.

Also new to the business is level two hairdressing apprentice Jack Ballan, who started in January and spends his time between gaining experience at the salon and studying at Bishop Auckland College.

Michael said: “He is like a breath of fresh air. He is brilliant and so eager.”

The salon has gone from strength-to-strength in the past two years, so much so that it underwent a complete refurbishment last year, with the interior now a fine mix of modernism, as seen in the salon’s simple, yet stylish, MT logo, and the tradition, as evidenced by the classic wood counter, which was hand crafted by a carpenter from the village.

As a welcome to Sami and to introduce her to clients, the salon is offering a 20 per cent discount on her service.

For more information or to take advantage of the offer, contact Michael Teasdale Hair on 01388 205976.
