Musician Rita heads to dale for new video

FAMILIAR FACE: David Harper with singer Rita Faria and film maker Ana O Sanchez

SOME classic views and landmarks of Teesdale will form the backdrop of the debut single by a Manchester-based singer’s latest project.

Rita Faria will unveil Rita and the Widows after completing the video for her new song Solstice, which was produced by filmmaker Ana O Sanchez.

She headed to the dale accompanied by a three-strong crew along with director Ana – and a white 1965 Ford Mustang 289 convertible.

Rita said: “Teesdale has the kind of magic I have been fantasising about since I was a kid.

“It has the breath-taking beauty and earth-shaking romance we wanted to capture for the nostalgic love anthem that is Solstice.

“I am over the moon to say that thanks to its people’s hospitality and kindness that dream has come true.”

The singer and production team visited The Bowes Museum, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Mickleton, Whorlton and The Morritt Arms, at Greta Bridge, to film scenes for the video.

They even roped in antiques expert and artist David Harper, whose paintings will appear in the video.

Rita was previously part of the four-piece Manchester band Louie Louie, after relocating to the North-West from her native Lisbon, in Portugal.
