Barnard Castle Golf Club
NICKY Lee-Shield crowned a successful year by collecting the Club Championship trophy at Friday’s prize-giving.
The 17-year-old Teesdale School pupil, who has reduced his handicap to scratch, completed the 36-hole event in three over par.
He won by one stroke from Craig Hamilton, who atoned by winning the Scratch Trophy and partnering David Weatherall to victory in the John Hinton Trophy and the Barnard Cup matchplay knockout.
The other pairs matchplay event, the Summerson Cup, was won by Neal Hallimond and Martin Oates.
The most prolific winner was Callum Tallentire, who landed the 36-hole Bailey Cup, the Arthur Watson Trophy and the Bishop Auckland Bowl.
Other 36-hole winners were: Ross Murray (Artillery Cup); Terry D Dady (Handicap Championship) and Alex Humphries (August Cup).
In the knockout singles events, the Moffat Cup went to Paul Dale and the Marwood Trophy to Andy Steel, who also won the Alan Stoddart Trophy.
The trophies were presented by club captain Colin MacLeod, who is to hand over to Doug Dinwiddie, while for the ladies Janet Graham will be succeeded by Caz Smith.
Pauline Connelly was crowned ladies’ champion for the sixth time and also won the singles matchplay, the Friend Rose Bowl and the Birkbeck Trophy.
The handicap champion, decided over 36 holes, was Jo Linsley, while Sheila Stewart won the Centenary Plate, the Centenary Cup and the Allan Salver for the greatest reduction in handicap.
Dianne Wilkinson was also a triple winner in the Angela Roscoe Trophy, the McLuckie Memorial Shield and the Evans Order of Merit. Charity events were won by Caz Smith, Sue Miller and Pat Page.
The foursomes matchplay knockout was won by Vicky Oliver and Maureen Raw.
