Toddler group helps little ones born during Covid alert

NEW GROUP: Jewel Adlington is welcoming mums and their babies to the new toddler group at Evenwood's Randolph Community Centre

A NEW toddler group in Evenwood is bringing confidence to children born during the Covid pandemic.
The Litter Movers and Baby Movers sessions began earlier this month at the Randolph Community Centre and are being run by year two teacher Jewel Adlington.
She said the groups focus on moving, dancing and developing social skills.
Ms Adlington, who has a 25-month-old daughter, said: “From having a Covid baby I know myself how important these sessions are. It is so important for the mental health of the parents and their children.
“Children come in very shy and you see their confidence grow each week. Parents as well have said their confidence has grown.”
Ms Adlington hosts two sessions at the centre each Tuesday, with the Baby Movers, ranging from newborns to toddlers, starting at 10.45am and the Little Movers, from toddlers to four years old, at 11.45am.
Each of the weekly sessions features a theme with last week’s session being centred around bonfire night and fireworks. Ms Adlington said: “The children made their own pretend bonfire and roasted marshmallows.”
They also sang songs and made movements like fireworks.
