Teesdale Flower Club
AFTER a break of a year and a half due to the pandemic Teesdale’s flower arrangers can’t wait to get started again on July 28 with our first club meeting – a social night with pooled supper and two-mini demonstrations.
Teesdale Flower Club started 34 years ago.
It’s for people who love flowers and like to see how they can be displayed, arranged and grown.
Many wonderful demonstrations have been seen over the years – some done by professional demonstrators, some by florists and some by local people and club members.
The arrangements are always raffled at the end of the evening with the lucky members often wondering how they will get the arrangement and their passengers into their cars to go home.
The aim of the club is to offer as many flower arranging demonstrations and related topics as possible and provide a good social meeting place for like-minded people.
We have a yearly club trip and dinner and some members visit gardens, garden centres and places of interest in smaller groups.
The club has a Thursday morning practical class led by a professional tutor and flower arranger – Val Guest – who is an excellent teacher and very patient.
It is open to all members of all abilities from absolute beginners to the more experienced. Everyone is quite happy to help each other and share any flowers and foliage they bring along.
There are always some beautiful arrangements at the end of these sessions and it’s a pity they are not seen by more people.
These sessions end with a Day School in December where we all have a good chat, lunch and some lovely arrangements to take home at the end of the day.
New members and visitors are always welcome – why not come along on July 28, meet members from our club and rekindle an old interest or consider starting a new hobby.
Meetings are in Cotherstone Village Hall on the fourth Wednesday of the month and start at 7.30 p.m.
