A DALE window cleaner has taken it upon himself to tidy up an almost illegible stree sign in his village.
Graham Stockton was inspired by Barnard Castle resident Paul Crossling, who repainted all the cast iron road-name signs in the town, when he decided to so something similar in Staindrop.
Mr Stockton said: “I watched Paul do it in Barney so I thought I will do one in Staindrop.”
He needed to look no further than the Sudburn Avenue sign which is fixed to the front of his garden wall.
The 65-year-old said: “It got really dull and you could hardly read it. It needed a facelift. I stripped it back and repainted it.”
He departed slightly from the traditional black and white format by adding a gold trim around the edge of the sign.
It took about two weeks to complete the job, with Mr Stockton spending a few minutes on in each day after work.
