STAFF at the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity shop, in Barnard Castle, say they have been overwhelmed by the positive response from residents since they reopened last week.
Jules Deehan, manager, said: “It’s lovely being back open and we have received such a good response from everyone. We are the last one in town to come back but Marie Curie wanted to bring the shops back gradually to be careful and to ensure the safety of customers and staff.”
Displays in the shop have been reorganised to create a one-way system.
Only two customers are being permitted in the shop at any one time, unless they are from the same household.
Ms Deehan added: “Volunteers were so pleased to get back and keen to get stuck in and we’ve had such a great response so far.
“We are still accepting donations, though can’t take in electrical items and everything is gratefully received.”
