Raby Castle Juniors
RABY made the long journey to play Lintz CC, at Burnopfield, in the Durham Cricket Board Junior League Under 12s KO Cup and won by eight wickets.
Due to it being an Under 12 competition Raby were forced to make a couple of changes with Raam Raj, Benedict Hoskyns-Abrahall and Oliver Clark making their debuts.
Raby won the toss and chose to bowl first and Lintz openers Scott and Kirtley (30 not out) put on 31.
Thereafter some excellent bowling and fabulous fielding allowed Raby to take wickets at regular intervals and restrict the hosts to 68-5 in 20 overs.
The Raby wicket takers were Bertie Morris (1-5), Benedict Hoskyns-Abrahall (1-3) and William Poole (1-6)
In reply Raby reached their target off 13 overs with Ramm Raj making an unbeaten 30 and William Poole (22).
On Wednesday Raby U13s travelled to Brandon CC for a DCBJ league match and lost by 32 runs.
Due to Brandon having a number of players unavailable, Raby agreed that the hosts could play some 14-year-old players. This proved costly as openers Gill and Howe both scored unbeaten 30s but once they retired the Raby bowlers regularly took wickets and Brandon were 112 all out in the last over.
The Raby wicket takers were William Poole (2-10), Benedict Hosykns-Abrahall (1-6), Ralph Hoskyns-Abrahall (1-9) and Bertie Morris (1-16)
In reply Raby struggled against some difficult bowling with only William Poole (33 not out) making double figures and the Raby innings finished on 80 for 5 off their 20 overs.
Raby’s next game is tonight, Wednesday, away to Ushaw Moor CC.
