A VARIETY of fun activities has been planned for Middleton-in-Teesdale as part of the village’s annual festivities.
Although there will be no grand parade this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, organisers have put together a range of events that can be enjoyed by all the family, including photographic displays, a treasure hunt and the ever-popular scarecrow trail.
Families are being invited to scour the village for all the effigies of heroes and villains in the scarecrow trail, noting down the letter on each.
Entry forms for the trail are available from G and J Newsagents, Utass and The Tees’pot. A winner will be drawn on Saturday, August 1, on what would have been carnival day.
A treasure hunt, a popular family event, is also on the agenda.
Entry forms are available from J Raine and Son, and a winner will be drawn from all the completed entries.
A new competition for the carnival hopes to let residents tap into their artistic side by decorating stones for Middleton Rocks depicting the carnival or the village.
The stones are being displayed on the grass opposite the newsagents, adjacent to the car park and prizes will be awarded for different age groups.
With no grand parade this year organisers have put together a display featuring photographs of carnivals in recent years as well as black and white images of a few familiar faces from times gone by.
The display, in the Utass window, also features a list of queens from the 1950s and 60s – and organisers are hoping residents can help fill in some of the blanks.
