Bowes FC delight fans with strong 5-1 win

BOWES FC played at home against  Darlington Simoson Rolling Mills (DSRM) in the league and were looking for a win to keep their good run going.

They did not let their fans down with a strong display to win 5-1.

However it got off to a bad start for Bowes and with only three min gone the DSRM team had the ball in the net.

Bowes drew level two minutes later when a corner saw Andrew Bellew head home the ball into the net. Bowes were starting to close their opponents down, not letting them play, and it was a move from the back from a DSRM player which saw Tommy Hutchinson close down a loose ball to beat the player and the keeper to score on 10 mins.

Bowes are getting a good shape to their team with Tommy Hutchinson and Gabriel Radu working well up front; midfield of Nicky Bellew closing down and Wayne Thwaites picking out his ball to supply the front lad Robbie Hudson who is starting to come back to the form we know. He was  running at players causing them all sort of problems.

Phil Merryweather, who can play all over the park, does endless work to strengthen the Bowes squad.

The back four saw Ian Stonly putting in another good shift. Andrew Bellew and Josh Lewandowski teamed up well together and Mark Patterson has a good game leaving James Woodhead in goal with little to do. But when he had to handle well, Tommy Hutch combined with Robbie Hudson and Phil Merreyweather in a good move ending in Tommy scoring a great goal for his second of the game.

Then it was Phil who crossed the ball perfectly for Gabriel Radu to head the ball into the back of the net – a one-off for Gabs because he doesn’t like getting his hair mucky. Tommy went close again with only the keeper to beat but this time the keeper came off better.

The second half saw Bowes deeping up the pressure on the DSRM team but on a heavy pitch legs were starting to tire. Bowes did increase their lead when  Tommy got his hat-trick from a corner  – his third hat trick in as many weeks.

Robert Hudson was replaced by Lewis Hammond then Andrew Close replaced Tommy Hutchinson. Bowes were still looking for more goals but could not find the net. Ian Stonly was replaced by Adam Goodfellow and Josh Lewandowski was replaced by Damabo Etomi and Dominic Green replaced Gabriel Radu.

Phil Merryweather was named sponsors’ MoM, sponsored by Ace Taxies and Tommy Hutchinson was named MoM from the away team. Next week Bowes are away to Bishop Bay Horse in the League, KO 2pm.
