A full-filled and marvellous Dahl day at Startforth School
CHILDREN at Startforth School enjoyed a marvellous day of fun-filled Roald Dahl activities last week to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the author’s birth.
They dressed up as famous characters from his books and got involved in learning activities.
Teacher Helen Edwards said: “It’s the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth and we’re taking part in the celebrations. Children have been looking at his revolting rhymes. They watched a video and have been creating their own, looking at ways of twisting fairy tales like Roald Dahl has done. It’s been a lot of fun. We’re also making lickable wallpaper and will be taking part in an online broadcast by Puffin Books.”
Teacher Emily Wood said her class were also writing their own memories in the author’s style after reading his autobiography Boy.
